What is Beyond the Nest?

Beyond the Nest is a suite of programs that are organized around the Jesuit ideals to educate and care for the whole person and teach lessons that are outside of the classroom and off the playing field.

Why does this program exist?

The NCAA requires that you are educated on some issues each year and the other programs are to help your understanding of the world in a practical sense and in the mission of the athletic department and the university at large.

What do I need to do?

You need to go to 6 programs a year. Of these 6 required programs, 2-3 a year will be signature programs that are mandatory for all students. The other 3-4 programs can be completed from a list of programs that will be sent out at the beginning of each semester.

How many programs do I need to go to?

Each student should attend 6 programs per year. There will be at least 30 different options to choose from, so meeting the requirement of 6 should be easy to plan for.

How do I get credit for going to a program to count towards my 6?

A student will have to attend the program and swipe into the card readers at the program, and then after the program you will complete a program evaluation form.

Can I get credit for a program that I attend that is not on the list of programs that are approved for the Beyond the Nest?

Yes, a program can count for your requirement but has to be approved by PARC staff member

How do I find out what programs I have credit for?

PARC staff can pull up the list, but as stated previously, a student will only receive credit for programs that they have completed an evaluation for.
