Will McGillis joined the Creighton staff in the fall of 2025. He played for Kingston at South Carolina during the 2023 season and spent four seasons at Southern Mississippi (2019-22).
Following his collegiate career, McGillis signed a free agent contract with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, playing two seasons in the Angels system. Will climbed the Angels system to the high-A affiliate (Tri-City Dust Devils).
With South Carolina in 2023, McGillis played in 31 games with 29 starts. He closed the season hitting .313 with 29 runs scored, four doubles, 14 home runs and 30 RBI. He connected on a pair of home runs on Opening Day in a win over UMass Lowell (Feb. 17), then broke a 5-5 tie with a home run in a win over Penn (Feb. 26). The highlight of his season with the Gamecocks came when it mattered most, blasting two home runs in game one of the Gainesville Super Regional against Florida (June 9).
"I'm incredibly grateful and excited to join the Creighton family. Having the opportunity to reunite with Coach Kingston and Coach Current—this time as a member of the coaching staff—is truly special," said McGillis. "I'm eager to get to work with the outstanding student-athletes in our program."
Will and his wife, Sarah Lane, reside in Omaha.
