Getting to Know Shea Wendt
- Appearing in 16 games, Wendt started five contests and tossed 29.2 innings.
- He posted a 4.55 ERA with two saves, 38 strikeouts and an opponents batting average of just .204.
- His first save of the season came against St. John’s on April 18 as Shea retired the last six hitters to end the game with a 4-3 win.
- His second save came just four days later as Wendt shut the door against future NCAA Tournament opponent North Dakota State on April 22. He allowed one hit in two innings of work to preserve the Bluejays’ 5-2 win.
2024 (Freshman)
- During his freshman season, Shea made 15 appearances with six starts, all from the pitching mound.Â
- Wendt pitched 23 innings, ending the season with a 7.04 ERA.
- Shea earned a win against Charleston Southern on March 30 with 1.2 innings of scoreless relief in 6-3 win.Â
- After a 2-1 victory over Omaha on May 14, Wendt tossed two innings of scoreless relief, allowing only one hit to earn the victory.
2019-23 (Blair HS)
- Wendt earned a combined 10 letters in baseball (three), football (four) and basketball (three) with the Bears.
- Shea was an two-time All-State selection by the Lincoln Journal Star after both his junior and senior seasons. Â
- He was also earned All-Nebraska honors from the Omaha World-Herald following the 2023 season.
- Wendt hit .338 in 2023 with four home runs and 21 RBI.Â
- He made seven pitching appearances, finishing with a 2.25 ERA and 54 strikeouts.

- Where did you first fall in love with baseball, and who put the first glove in your hand? Fell in love with baseball in my hometown of Blair, Nebraska. My dad, Ryan Wendt, and mom, Kris Wendt, were the first ones to put a glove in my hand.

- What’s your favorite restaurant in Omaha? The Old Mattress Factory
- If you didn’t play baseball, what other sport would you have played? Football
- What’s your earliest baseball memory that still sticks with you today? Winning back-to-back state championships when I was 9 and 10.
- What’s a hobby or talent you have that people wouldn’t expect from a baseball player? I play the guitar a little bit.
