Lucas Vargas is in his fourth season at Creighton and second as the team’s video coordinator after spending his first two years as a graduate manager. Since his arrival, he earned his master’s degree in Organizational Leadership.
Vargas attended the University of Michigan, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sport Management with a minor from the Ross School of Business in 2021. He served as a student manager for three years, including a pair as head manager, for the Michigan women’s basketball program under head coach Kim Barnes Arico. The Wolverines reached their first Sweet 16 in program history in 2021.
Vargas also spent time working in sports radio from 2017-2021 with WCBN Sports Student Radio in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and as an intern for the morning show at The Horn 104.9 FM in Austin, Texas in the summer of 2018. He also worked as a coach for BTY Basketball’s Texas Pro Academy in Austin, Texas during the summers of 2020 and 2021, where he assisted with player development with high school, college and professional players.
Vargas attended Anderson High School in Austin, Texas, where he served as a student manager for four years under head coach Daniel Pittsford.
