Name: Logan Piper
High School: Indianola High School
Hometown: Indianola, Iowa
Parents/family: Rich and Gina Piper, Tyler and Nicholas
Major: Finance
I knew I wanted to be a Bluejay when… I was 5-years old. Both of my parents went to Creighton, as did my oldest brother Tyler so I’ve felt like a Bluejay almost my whole life. Growing up my parents told me that Creighton was the best four years of their life, where they made friendships that still hold to this day. While my family would often encourage me to attend Creighton, it was never pushed or pressed upon, the decision was all mine.
HS Athletic Accolades:
3-year Drake qualifier (400 Hurdles, 110 Hurdles, 4x400, 4x200)
3-year State qualifier (400 Hurdles, 110 Hurdles, Shuttle Hurdle Relay, 4x100, 4x200, 4x400, Sprint Medley)
2022 Elite All-State Hurdler
2022 4A runner up 400 Hurdles
2023 4A 3rd place 400 Hurdles
2023 All State Hurdler
Â
Interesting fact about me: I can quote every Star Wars movie and Friends episode.
Â
Running Superstition: Every night before a meet, I listen to the book, Atomic Habits. This calms my nerves and get me excited for what lies ahead.
Â
Favorite Running Spot: I don’t have a favorite running spot; all I need is a track, but I do often enjoy running in the rain.
Â
If I could run with any three people, living or dead, it would be: Sydney McLaughlin, Rai Benjamin and Matthew Boling. I’ve looked up to these runners since beginning my running journey and I’ve always been amazed at how at ease they look when competing. More importantly these runners bring a certain humility and joy to the sport that I try to emulate as well.
Â
When I am not running, I am: most likely with my family or friends. I love to travel, hike, watch movies, volunteer and of course cheer on the Jays!
Â
Favorite Movie: The original Star Wars trilogy, yes I know this is technically 3 separate movies, but they are all so good I can’t choose just one.
Â
Favorite Food: Italian food is always my go to, if I had to specify, spaghetti and meatballs is my favorite!
Â
HS Academic Accolades: 4-year all academic honors, National Honor Society, 4.0 honor roll all 16 semesters.
