Rich Wallace came to Creighton prior to the 2015 season from High Point University, where he served as an assistant coach from 2009-14.
Wallace serves as Creighton’s recruiting coordinator, hitting coach and works with Bluejay catchers.
At High Point, Rich was the Panthers’ recruiting coordinator, hitting coach and catching instructor from 2012-14. His efforts to bring in a stellar recruiting class in 2012 was named one of the nation’s best by Collegiate Baseball. Prior to High Point Wallace served as volunteer assistant coach at Central Florida from 2005-08, and an undergraduate assistant in 2004.
Throughout his coaching career Wallace has helped four catchers become semifinalist for the Johnny Bench Award, including Drew Butera (2004). Wallace has coached 25 MLB draft picks during his 14 seasons, with two reaching the Majors (Butera and pitcher Chad Allen).
As a player for the Knights (2000-03), Wallace was part of three NCAA Tournament teams, three Atlantic Sun regular-season championships and a pair of Atlantic Sun tournament
titles.
On the diamond Wallace earned Third Team All-Atlantic Sun honors as a freshman and was named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball. He held school records for being hit by a pitch, both in career (46) and single-season totals (16). A native of Orlando, Fla, Wallace earned his bachelor’s degree from UCF in liberal studies in 2004. Wallace and his wife Alex have two daughters, Maxx and Easton.
