Kamler, Brian

Brian Kamler
- Induction:
- 2002
Simply put, Brian Kamler is Creighton University's only 3-time All-American. Captain of the revived Bluejay Soccer program for four straight years, he was everything a captain should be both on and off the field.
As the Bluejays' second all-time leading scorer (130 points), Kamler can be found on numerous single-game, season, and career records lists at Creighton. He is currently ranked second on the career goal list (53) and sixth for assists (24). Kamler's other career achievements include third for shots on goal (129) and second for multiple-goal games (13).
Kamler started his career at Creighton in 1990 and made an immediate impact, scoring 10 goals and adding two assists his freshman year. In his sophomore season, Kamler earned Missouri Valley Conference first-team, NSCAA first-team all-Midwest Region and NSCAA second-team All-America honors. During that season, he tallied 17 goals, which currently places him seventh on the all-time single-season goal list. Kamler's point total was also good enough for seventh on the all-time single-season points scored list.
Kamler's junior season earned him MVC first-team, MVC all-tournament team, NSCAA first-team all-Midwest Region, and NSCAA third-team All-America recognition, along with MVC "Player of the Year." For the season, Kamler had 15 goals, ninth on the all-time single-season list, and four assists.
One season later, he repeated as the MVC's "Player of the Year" and he was once again named to the all-Midwest Region first-team, MVC first-team and the MVC all-tournament team, but this year, he was also named first-team All- America.
Off the field, Kamler made equally important contributions. He promoted the importance of excelling and fair play to the children of Omaha and the surrounding area through countless personal and team appearances in elementary, junior high, and high schools.
Kamler was recently traded from the DC United to the New York Metrostars of Major League Soccer. His professional career started in 1995 with stints with Richmond, Va. Kickers and AaB, a team in the Danish League. Kamler debuted in the MLS with the United in 1996 and earned an MLS championship ring in 1997. After playing from 1998-2001 with the Miami Fusion, he landed back in the nation's capital.
Kamler currently resides with his wife, Suzanne, and their dog "Creighton," in Potomac Falls, Va. He received his bachelor's degree in exercise science from Creighton in 1994.
