Kathy Halligan is a staple in the Creighton University women's basketball record books. She finished her stellar career by becoming the all-time leader in points for the Bluejays (2,159).
Halligan made an immediate impact her freshman year, earning second-team All-High Country Athletic Conference recognition. She led the team in scoring with 15.0 points per game and steals with 68. She was the HCAC leader in three-point field goals made (55).
Halligan was named HCAC "Player of the Year" during her sophomore season. A season that saw her lead the nation in three-point field goals made with 102, including an NCAA record-tying 10 in one game (vs. New Mexico State, Feb. 10, 1990), on her way to a career-high 41 points. She led the Bluejays in scoring with 24.2 points per game, which was good enough for 13th nationally. She also led the team in rebounds
(7.7/game), assists (86) and steals (66).
Her junior year saw Creighton join the Western Athletic Conference, but Halligan netted the same results. She earned first-team WAC, as well as Kodak-District VIl All-Region honors. Halligan led the team in scoring (20.3/game), and ranked I Ith in the nation in three-pointers made (80) and ninth in three-point percentage (.455).

She finished her career ranked in the top 10 of every Bluejay women's basketball career statistical category, including rebounds (2nd, 749), steals (2nd, -272), assists (6th, 380), three-point field goals made (1st, 309). field goals made (3rd, 749), free throw percentage (5th, .752) and free throws made (4th, 352).
Halligan's contributions weren't limited to the basketball court. She was a member of several campus organizations, including the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society. Halligan received her bachelor's degree in elementary and secondary physical education and exercise science in 1993.
Halligan capped off a very successful stint in the European League by earning MVP honors for the championship game of the Danish National Cup.
Halligan spent six seasons as the head coach at Texas-Pan American University. She is currently living in Melrose, Mass., where she is helping her brother and sister-in-law with their chiropractic center. Halligan also assists with local junior high and high school basketball programs in the area.Â

Halligan won the inaugural women's three-point shootout, which was held in conjunction with the men's NCAA Final Four in 1992. Her three-point accuracy wasn't limited to the competition, as Halligan led Division I in three•point field goal accuracy (72-130, .554).
