OMAHA, Neb. Head Coach Bob Warming of the Creighton men's soccer team has announced the Bluejays have received a National Letter of Intent from two local products. Mike Stillmock and Byron Dacy, both of Creighton Prep, have signed an NLI to play soccer for the Bluejays next season. The Jays also announced the arrival of Brian Kallman, a transfer from Jacksonville University.
Stillmock has earned first-team all-state honors in each of the last two seasons for the Junior Jays. During his sophomore campaign in 2003, the forward scored the game-winning goal in the state championship game to help Prep finish 15-1. The gifted athlete was also an all-state place kicker in football last season for another state championship team.
"Mike has outstanding speed and athleticism," said Warming of the future Bluejay attacker. "Having been an all-state football player for the state champions, it gives him a toughness and a certain edge which will help him compete at the collegiate soccer level."
Dacy was an all-conference selection for the Junior Jays during their championship season in 2003, but did not participate in high school soccer last year. As an alternative to high school soccer in Nebraska, Dacy was in England playing trial stints with professional teams. He will return to Prep for his senior season as an attacking midfielder this spring. Dacy has other foreign playing experience as well, having recently returned from Portugal where he competed with a United States regional team.
"Byron has had tremendous experiences overseas and with U.S. Soccer through regional play," said Warming. "He is a soccer junkie and is always looking to improve himself on the field."
Kallman, who was born in Omaha, is already enrolled at CU and has started training with the Jays. After attending high school in Woodbury, Minn., Kallman began his collegiate career at Jacksonville University. The defender will have one year of eligibility remaining with the Jays after playing in 43 games for the Dolphins in three seasons.
"We're excited to have Brian here this spring to learn the system," said Warming. "He's made great progress already and we expect him to be an important part of our team this fall."
The Bluejays appeared in their 13th consecutive NCAA tournament last fall and finished with a 14-4-2 record.
