
Andrew Peterson Taken in USL Draft

Former Creighton men's soccer standout Andrew Peterson was selected in the first round of Wednesday's 2007 USL First Division College Player Draft. Peterson was picked third overall by his homestate Minnesota Thunder.
The Plymouth, Minn., native was a second-team all-Missouri Valley Conference selection in 2006 as a senior. A defender, he started 16 of the 21 matches he appeared in as a senior, dishing a career-best four assists. The left-footed player was a four-year starter, starting 74 of the 85 career matches he appeared in.
As a junior he was named second-team NSCAA All-Midwest Region and named to the MVC all-tournament team in helping the Jays to the tournament title. The Bluejays twice ranked in the NCAA top 25 in defense in his time at Creighton, including 19th in the country with a 0.77 goals against average in 2003. The CU defense posted 33 shutouts during his four-years, including 10 in 2005.
Last year, another Bluejay with Minnesota connections was drafted by the Thunder. Brian Kallman, a Woodbury High School graduate, was taked 16th overall.
