CALGARY, Alberta -- The Creighton men's basketball team improved to 4-0 on its exhibition tour of Canada, leading from wire-to-wire while beating Saskatchewan 92-66 on Sunday night in Calgary. The Bluejays placed five players in double-figures, led once again by Dane Watts' 15 points.
Watts scored 15 points in 15 minutes to top five scorers with 12 or more points. Kenny Lawson Jr. had 14 points and 10 rebounds in just 19 minutes for his second double-double of the afternoon. Booker Woodfox and Nick Bahe both scored 13 points while P'Allen Stinnett had 12 points in as many minutes.
Saskatchewan was led by 19 points from Rejean Chabot.
Creighton led 18-14 after the opening 10 minutes, then outscored the Huskies 26-12 in the second quarter to take a 44-26 lead into half. After leading only 23-21 early in the second quarter, CU unleashed a 14-0 run that included seven points from Lawson and four points from Stinnett.
Creighton would erase any comeback thoughts with a 22-3 run spanning the third and fourth quarters, to go ahead 80-46. The Jays would lead by as much as 36 before settling on the final 26-point romp.
Creighton is making its first trip to Canada since November of 2003. The Bluejays will close their first trip to Canada since 2003 on Monday with a 1 pm (Central) game against host Calgary. The Jays defeated the Dinos 85-77 on Saturday night in their second game of this trip, but Calgary did beat Weber State 81-74 on Sunday.
