
Bench Scoring Splurge Carries MBB's Win Over Indiana State, 86-69

Woodfox hit 7-of-8 shots overall, including 6-of-7 from three-point range, while scoring 20 points. Witter scored 15 of his team-high 21 points in the first half while also dishing a season-high four assists. The point totals for both men were career highs.
The win was Creighton's fifth in a row after an 0-2 MVC start, improving the Bluejays to 14-3 on the season. Indiana State dropped to 9-8 on the season and is 4-3 in MVC play. The Sycamores are 1-8 on the road this season with each setback coming by nine points or more.
Creighton never trailed in the contest, as Nick Bahe drained a pair of three-pointers to give CU an early 6-1 lead. The Jays would lead by double-digits the final 30 minutes of the contest, leading by as much as 22 at one point. Bahe finished with 10 points, his third straight game in double-figures.
Creighton shot 57.1 percent for the game, hitting 28-of-49 shots from the floor. CU also made 12-of-23 three-pointers (52.2 percent) and hit 18-of-22 shots at the line (81.8 percent). While Witter, Woodfox and Bahe took care of the backcourt scoring, redshirt freshman Kenny Lawson Jr. did his part in the paint. Lawson had eight points, eight rebounds and a career-high five blocks.
Indiana State was led by a season-high 23 points from Marico Stinson, including six three-pointers. Also in double-figures was Cole Holmstrom, who scored a season-best 15 points. The Sycamores shot 40 percent from the field and hit 10-of-26 three-pointers.
Creighton returns to action against Drake on Tuesday at Qwest Center Omaha. The Bulldogs have won 15 straight and are 16-1 on the season, alone in first in MVC play with a 7-0 mark. Tip time is 7:05 pm.
