Darin Ruf got Creighton on the board with a two-run home run to straight away center, measuring 408 feet. His home run was the 27th of his career moving him into a tie for ninth on the all-time Bluejay leaderboard.
Dallas Hord answered for the Bears in the top of the fourth hitting a triple to straight away center as well, plating Ben Carlson from first. Chris Playter made it 2-2 on a bloop single to center, scoring Hord. The Bears then loaded the bases with one out. Luckily for the Jays, Jonas Dufek was able to get two ground balls to end the threat and keep the game tied going into the bottom of the fourth.
In the bottom of the inning Nick Becker and Carson Vitale hit back-to-back doubles to make it 3-2 in favor of the home team.
The lead wouldn't last long as Brayden Drake hit a solo shot of his own to right in the top of the fifth, tying it at 3-3. Playter gave the Bears the lead on a double to center, scoring Hord from first.
MSU took a commanding lead in the sixth when Ben Carlson hit his MVC-leading 14th home run of the year, making it 7-3.
Drake added a two-run single to center in the seventh making it 9-3.
CU cut into the lead in the bottom of the seventh when Vicente Cafaro hit a double down the left field line, plating Robbie Knight. Jimmy Swift then singled up the middle bringing in Ruf and Cafaro. The deficit was just 9-6 after seven.
Ruf knocked in his third run of the day in the bottom of the eighth, hitting a single to left that scored Knight from second and made it 9-7.
Unfortunately the Bears were able to answer, and get the run back in the top of the ninth on a Dallas Hord single, making the final score 10-7.
The Bluejays and Bears will play the finale of their three-game set Sunday at 1:00 p.m., at the CU Sports Complex.
