
Bluejays Top Ramblers 1-0

OMAHA, Neb. - The No. 24 Creighton men's soccer team snapped a three-game winless streak by recording a 1-0 victory over Loyola-Chicago Tuesday Oct. 2 at Morrison Stadium.
Freshman Timo Pitter's second-half goal proved to be the difference as the Jays held their opponent scoreless for the second straight game.
With the win the Bluejays improve to 6-3-2 overall on the year while the Ramblers drop to 1-6-2. Creighton outshot the Loyola-Chicago 21-5 in the game.
The Jays' offense heated up after the intermission tallying 15 shots, while holding the Ramblers to just three second-half attempts.
Pitter got the Bluejays on the board in the 52nd minute, as he took a feed from Jose Gomez and sent it past Rambler goalkeeper Tim Dobrowolski for what proved to be the only goal of the night.? It was Pitter's third goal of the season.
The win marked CU's third 1-0 victory of the year as they defeated Santa Clara (Sept. 7) and Saint Mary's (Sept. 9). ?
Loyola's best scoring chance didn't come until the 88th minute, when Rambler goalkeeper Dobrowolski launched a shot from midfield that Creighton goalie Jeff Gal jumped to save.
Creighton finished with a season-high 13 shots on goal for the evening.
The Bluejays now lead the all-time series with the Ramblers 4-0-1.
The Jays return to Missouri Valley Conference action against Southern Illinois Edwardsville (8-3-0, 0-0-0 MVC) at 7 p.m. Saturday Oct. 6 inside Morrison Stadium.
