Ty Blach Tabbed MVC Pitcher of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - After a 2011 season full of accolades, Creighton baseball junior Ty Blach has picked up the first award of the 2012 season, earning Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week following the first weekend of play. It marks the first time the southpaw has earned the award.
Blach opened the 2012 season in midseason form, tossing 5.0 innings in the Friday night 4-3 win over Central Arkansas. Blach struck out six batters, allowing just two hits and one unearned run in the opening game of the season. The junior held opponents to just a .143 batting average, becoming the first Bluejay to earn a win in 2012.
He tied for fourth in the conference in batters struck out on the opening weekend and sits in sixth in opponent batting average.
Creighton will be in action again this weekend when they travel to Portland, Ore., to take on the Portland Pilots in a three game series. The Bluejays swept the Pilots the series last season played at the CU Sports Complex.
