Foursome from Bluejay Baseball Earn CSC Academic All-District

Omaha, Neb. -- Four Creighton Baseball players (Jimmy Burke, Teddy Deters, Rocco Gump and Eli Nissen) earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District.Â
To be eligible for College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50, be at least a sophomore academically and athletically as well as play in a minimum number of events.
Burke appeared in 26 games for the Bluejays during the 2026 season as a reliever, he closed the campaign with a 1-2 record and a 5.40 ERA. He notched a pair of saves, tossing a combined 38.1 innings and recording 32 strikeouts. In the classroom Jimmy holds a 4.0 in his graduate studies in sports leadership. He earned his bachelors in computer science with a 3.65 GPA.
Deters saw action in 55 games this season, starting 54 in the outfield. He completed his final season as a Bluejay hitting .280 with nine home runs and 34 RBI. The highlight of his season saw Deters blast a home run in the ninth inning to defeat his former team, Xavier, in the home of the Cincinnati Red (Great American Ballpark). Deters boasts a 3.91 GPA as he works toward his MBA, while delivering a 3.64 in his undergraduate studies as he earned a degree in finance.
Competing in his lone season at Creighton, Gump was the Bluejays' starting third baseman for all 57 games. Gump's Creighton career closed on an extraordinary high note as he earned the Jack Kaiser Most Outstanding Player during the 2026 BIG EAST Championship. Gump went 10-for-16 (.625) with three home runs, two triples, nine RBI and five runs scored in Creighton's four contests. Working toward his MBA, Rocco has a 4.0 at the graduate level and delivered a 3.72 GPA during his undergraduate work at Northwestern State in business administration.
Rounding out the quartet is Nissen, the left-handed pitcher appeared in 23 games. Making seven starts early in the season, Nissen moved into the bullpen in April. The southpaw closed the season with a 4.50 ERA in 46 innings, notching two saves and a 1-3 record. Eli has a 3.71 GPA as a communications major.
