OMAHA, Neb. - Despite a strong effort on senior day, the Creighton women's soccer team fell to #25 Georgetown 1-0 on Sunday, Oct. 19.
Creighton fell to 9-6-1 on the season following the loss and 1-5-1 in BIG EAST play, while Georgetown moved to 10-3-3 overall and 5-1-1 in conference action.
The win also clinched a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament for Georgetown and officially eliminated the Bluejays from postseason contention.
Creighton was the more aggressive team in the opening period, out shooting Georgetown 8-2. The Bluejays, however, recorded just three shots on goal and were unable to push a goal across for the third consecutive match.
Georgetown got on the board in the 54th minute of play as Jessie Clinton found Audra Ayotte on a cross from 20 yards along the right side to the left portion of the box. Ayotte slammed home the goal with her left foot, her second goal of the season.
Creighton held the high powered Hoyas offense to just two corners and seven shots in the match.
The Bluejays return to action on Saturday, Oct. 25 as Creighton faces Butler at 6 p.m. in Indianapolis, Ind.
