
Bluejays' Women's Soccer Battles Butler to 1-1 Tie

OMAHA, Neb. - The Creighton women's soccer team battled Butler to a 1-1 tie on Saturday, Oct. 25. Creighton moved to 9-6-2 on the season, while Butler is 8-8-2.
Already eliminated from BIG EAST Tournament contention, Creighton played the spoiler role on Saturday by officially eliminating Butler with the tie. The Bluejays are now 1-5-2 in BIG EAST action, while Butler is 2-4-2.
Following a scoreless first half, sophomore Lauren Sullivan got the Bluejays out to a 1-0 lead in the 64th minute. Sullivan notched her seventh goal of the season, converting a pass from junior Alyssa Jara, firing from the left side into the right corner of the net.
Butler responded in the 72nd minute as Serina Kashimoto notched her third goal of the season off a pass from Sophia Maccagnone.
The Bulldgos won the battle of shots, firing 17 to just nine for Creighton. The Bulldogs also created six corners, to just three by the Bluejays.
"Our team showed great fight tonight," said head coach Bruce Erickson. "We had a couple of great chances as well as a great goal, the team deserved better."
Creighton concludes the 2014 season on Friday, Oct. 31 at Xavier, beginning at 5:30 pm (CT).
