Series: Butler vs. Creighton
Creighton and Butler met three times last season with the Bulldgos winning the home and home set, while the Bluejays took the matchup in the BIG EAST Tournament.
Butler continued its regular season success against the Bluejays with a win at Butler earlier this year, 63-58, on Jan. 4.
Scouting Butler (12-9, 8-2 BIG EAST)
After starting out the season 2-8, Butler has found its rhythm with eight consecutive
victories and 10 of the last 11.
The primary difference for the Bulldogs from their rough start to now has been the addition of Belle Obert. A four-year volleyball player, Obert joined the basketball team once her volleyball eligibility was completed. Obert has provided a stabilizing presence in the middle. That has allowed Ijeoma Uchendu to move to the four. In BIG EAST play, Uchendu is averaging 17.1 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.
Obert, meanwhile, has 25 blocks in conference play and is averaging 7.9 ppg and 6.7 rpg.
Keys to the Game w/Butler:
- Lock Down the Three-Point Line: Creighton has struggled to defend the trey this season and Butler averages just under six triples per game.
- Slow Uchendu and Goodwin: In the first meeting the duo combined for 49 points and 28 rebounds.
- Expose the small roster of Butler: The Bulldogs have limited the roster to just seven players over the last seven games.
Rolling with Rollerson
Sophomore Brianna Rollerson has had some monster games this season, including three double-doubles, but Friday's performance against Xavier may have been her best. The Omaha native torched the Musketeers for a career-high 22 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and delivered two blocks in the 74-65 win.
