Ogg & Women's Cross Country Win; Men Take Third at Briar Cliff Invite

NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. -- Freshman Lauren Ogg claimed her first career victory on Saturday in the women's 5k run to lead the Creighton women's cross country to their second team win of the season at the Briar Cliff Invite. The Creighton men's team placed third.
Creighton, Hastings, Augustana and Morningside were among the 15 teams in the women's race and the 16 teams in the men's race participating at Adams Homestead and Natural Preserve in North Sioux City, S.D.
Coming off her 17:06 record-setting performance last week, Ogg posted a 17:10 time this week in her 5k run.
Maddie Ivy, the next finisher for the Bluejays, placed third overall with a time of 17:26. Emily Mauser and Emily Peterson finished seventh and eighth with 17:51 and 17:57 times. Freshman Megan Paule finished 10th overall posting a time of 18:05 to round out the Bluejay's top five.
Midland's Danny Aldaba finished first in the men's 8k race with a 24:46 time, while Sioux Falls claimed the team honors.
Sophomore David Rice was the top finisher for the Bluejays on the men's side, finishing 16th with a time of 26:07. Coming in seconds behind Rice, Jake Landreth posted a 26:09 time for a 17th place finish. Eric Klein finished 22nd with a 26:17 time and Jacob Ohnstad finished 25th with a time of 26:23. Freshman Spencer DeJong placed 27th overall with a time of 26:24 to complete the Bluejay's top five.
The Bluejays are back on the road next week, October 16th, at the Bradley Classic at Newman Golf Course in Peoria, Ill.
