
Women's Soccer Fell at St. John's, 4-0

Queens, N.Y. - Battling the preseason co-favorite, the Creighton women's soccer team fell at St. John's 4-0 on Sunday, Oct. 11.
The loss dropped Creighton to 10-6-0 on the season and 2-3 in BIG EAST play, while St. John's moved to 12-2-0 overall and 4-1 in conference action.
Facing a flurry of shots, 16 in the first half alone, freshman Erin Scott made some remarkable saves to keep the match scoreless into the 21st minute. St. John's fired its first shot of the contest in the opening minute. The Red Storm attack refused to relent, finally putting home a goal at 20:12. The Red Storm offensive leader Rachel Daly headed in the goal from five yards out.
Daly went on to add two more goals in the 29th and 33rd minute, giving her 15 on the season.
St. John's added a fourth goal in the 65th minute when Christina Bellero delivered an unassisted goal off the post.
Creighton was outshot in the match, 23-4, while St. John's held a 10-2 edge on corners.
The Bluejays return to the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 17 as Creighton hosts Providence at 1:00 pm.
