Men's Basketball Tops All Star Rome, 109-31

ROME, Italy – The Creighton men's basketball team improved to 2-0 on its' tour of Italy with a 109-31 victory over All Star Rome on Tuesday evening. Nine men scored nine points or more for the visitors, with Cole Huff's 14 points leading a balanced Bluejay effort that featured 31 assists and just four turnovers.
Just as it did in its first game, Creighton fell behind 2-0 in the opening minute before unleashing a 26-0 run that included scores from eight different men. CU won the opening quarter, 32-5, while holding the All Stars to 1-of-11 shooting from the field and forcing nine turnovers.
CU won the second quarter 29-13 to build its lead to 61-18 by halftime. Malik Albert scored nine points in the frame, while fellow newcomer Martin Krampelj added six points and four rebounds. CU had 10 assists on 13 field goals without a turnover in the quarter.
Justin Patton started the third quarter, and the freshman center quickly delivered with a tip-in and an alley-oop dunk to start CU's scoring after half. Geoffrey Groselle had four points and four rebounds in the quarter as part of a double-double on the evening, as he finished the game with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Jays ended the game with a 26-5 victory in the fourth quarter to wrap up their second straight win by 70+ points.
A Nevada transfer who sat out last season, Huff made all six of his shots and finished with 14 points in 14 minutes. Krampelj had 13 points and nine rebounds in nine minutes. Veteran big men Groselle (12 points and 10 rebounds) and Zach Hanson (12 points, 9 rebounds) helped CU maintain an 82-6 edge in the paint.
Creighton will play its final game on Wednesday against Foligno Basket in Foligno, Italy. That game begins at 11 am Central time (6 pm CEST).
