Omaha, Neb. -- The Creighton women's soccer team faces off with Seton Hall on Thursday, Oct. 6 as the Bluejays play the Pirates in their annual 'Pink Game' to help raise awareness for breast cancer.
Series History: Creighton leads series, 2-0-1
Creighton has gotten the better of the Pirates, taking two matches and earning a draw in the third. Each of the three matchups in the series have been one-goal affairs. The Bluejays claimed victories in both matchups in New Jersey, winning 1-0 in 2013 and taking a 3-2 contest in overtime last season. The lone meeting between the two in Omaha produced a 1-1 tie on Oct. 5, 2014.
Scouting Seton Hall (4-6-1, 0-3-0 BIG EAST)
The Pirates non-conference season produced a 4-3-1 record for Seton Hall, including a victory over Army (1-0 in overtime on Aug. 22). Seton Hall, however, has hit a rough patch with the start of the BIG EAST season. The Pirates have dropped their opening three contests in conference play, getting outscored 7-2.
Frankie Maier has been the key to Seton Hall's offense, leading the team in points (7), assists (3) and tied for the top spot with two goals. In goal the Pirates have had Anna MacLean in the net for every minute this season. She has allowed 15 goals in 11 matches for a 1.32 GAA.
Sullivan's Goal Streak and Point Streak Continues
Over the past six matches Creighton senior Lauren Sullivan has scored at least one goal in each contest. She has at least one point in each of the Bluejays' last seven matches.
Sullivan notched one goal at Villanova on Sunday, giving her eight goals in the last six matches. The goal streak she is currently on is the longest by a Bluejay since Gretta Mathews scored in seven from Sept. 3, 1989 to Sept. 24, 1989.
The last time a Creighton player had a streak of more than seven consecutive matches with at least one point was in 2010, when Andrea Zuniga scored in nine straight from Oct. 2 to Nov. 12.
Sullivan's scoring run has elevated her to the top of the BIG EAST in goals scored with nine. She sits 11th in the NCAA, just one away from a five-way tie for sixth overall. The NCAA leader, Ashley Hatch (BYU), has 15 goals.
Paule Off to Second Best Start in School History
Over his first 30 matches as the head coach of Creighton, Ross Paule amassed a record of 16-12-2 (.567). That is the second best start (at least 30 matches) in Creighton history. Paule trails only Ray Leone, who went 19-10-1 (.650) in the first 30 matches of his tenure. Cathy Klein led Creighton to a 14-4 record in 1994, but did not return for a second season.
