Women's Basketball Looks for Fun, Sun and Two Wins at Junkanoo Jam

Bimini, Bahamas -- Looking to combine work and play, the Creighton women's basketball team will be spending its Thanksgiving in the Bahamas as the Bluejays play in the Junkanoo Jam. Creighton takes on Missouri on Nov. 25 at 4:15 pm (CT), then battles either Georgia Tech or Dayton the following day.

The last time that Creighton and Missouri met was in the 2014 WNIT as the Bluejays ended Missouri's season with a 77-51 win over the Tigers in Omaha.
Missouri and Creighton are tied by current Tiger Athletic Trainer Alison Mosel, who served with the Bluejays' women's basketball team for two seasons prior to moving into the same role at Missouri during the summer of 2012.
Both Dayton and Missouri were in action on Tuesday, Nov. 22 as the Flyers dropped a 98-65 to No. 2 Connecticut, while Missouri bested Indiana State, 77-48.
Regardless of Friday's outcome, the Bluejays will face a new opponent as Creighton has not faced both Georgia Tech or Dayton.
The quartet of teams in the Bluejays' bracket enter action on Friday with a combined record of 10-5.
Although the two brackets will not face one another, the other side of the bracket in the Bahamas are Georgia, Minnesota, North Carolina and South Florida.
Junior Myah Mellman delivered a career night to lift Creighton to its first win of the season, scoring a career-high 18 points against Bluejay rival Drake on Nov. 17.
The Bluejays will be wrapping up one of the tougher portions of its schedule in the Bahamas this weekend as Creighton opened the season with four of its first first games away from home.

Creighton vs. Missouri:
Missouri and Creighton have met 15 times, with the Bluejays holding a slim 8-7 edge. The last meeting came in Omaha in the opening round of the WNIT in 2014. Creighton advanced with a 77-51 win.

The Bluejays and the Tigers met one other time in a tournament setting as Missouri defeated the Bluejays, 70-66, in the State Farm Tiger Classic in Columbia, Mo during the 2005-06 season.

Sophie Cunningham leads the Tigers with 15.0 ppg, Just a step back, Cierra Porter is averaging 13.0 ppg through four contests.

Defensively the Tigers have limited opponents to a shooting percentage of 28.7%. Missouri has nabbed 38 steals in four games.

Keys to the Game w/Missouri

Take Care of the Ball: Taking care of the ball is a must in every game, but that is even more true against the Tigers. Missouri will take advantage of every opportunity.
Rebound: The Bluejays cannot allow Missouri second chance opportunities. The Tigers grabbed 18 against Indiana State.
Play like its home: Creighton struggled to execute offensively in the first two games, yet scored 80 points in their lone home game.
