Poughkeepsie, N.Y. -- The Creighton women's basketball team closes out the non-conference portion of its schedule in New York as the Bluejays battle Marist on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 6:00 pm (CT).

With victories in four of their last five games, the Bluejays close out their non-conference schedule at Marist on Wednesday.
Creighton has yet to post a victory in a true road game, dropping contests at South Dakota State, Wichita State and Northern Iowa.
Senior Marissa Janning is coming off her best game of the season, scoring 22 points to lead the Bluejays to an 80-64 win over Nebraska on Sunday. Janning was 7-for-11 from beyond the arc to set an arena record at the Bluejays' home, D.J. Sokol Arena.
In its last two home contests the Bluejays have sizzled from long range, tying a program record with 16 three-pointers in a win over Nebraska-Omaha on Dec. 7 and dropping in 15 against the Huskers on Dec. 18.
Creighton and Marist met for the first time in the second game of the 2015-16 season in Omaha. The Bluejays claimed that matchup, 89-46.
Like the Bluejays, Marist has won four of its last five games, including their last two.
Marist's Claire Oberdorf has posted back-to-back double-doubles in the Red Foxes last two contests.
Following Wednesday's contest the Bluejays will disperse for a four-day holiday break, before returning to practice on Dec. 26.
Under Flanery the Bluejays have been remarkably successful in the upper northeast, going 8-3 in road contest in Maine, New York/New Jersey and Rhode Island.

Marist vs. Creighton Series:
Wednesday will be the return game for a home-and-home series between the Bluejays and Red Foxes. Creighton took the battle in Omaha last season, 89-46, on Nov. 15, 2015.

With that win the Bluejays hold a 1-0 lead in the overall series.

Scouting Marist (4-7)

After starting the season slowing, the Red Foxes have won four of the last five, including two in a row.
The Marist offense is led by Rebekah Hand's 15.6 ppg, but the emergence of Claire Oberdorf has led to the Red Foxes improved play. The 5-6 guard has started to crash the glass with some urgency, posting double-doubles in the last two contests.
Marist has 88 three-pointers this season, led by 22 from Hand. Four players have at least 15.

Defensive Communication: Similar to Creighton, Marist's offense relies on screens and the Red Foxes run multiple sets out of a similar look.
Shoot Like its Omaha: Creighton has struggled to find its shot on the road this season. That makes the first few shots critical for the Bluejays' confidence.
Keep Active Hands: Marist has committed 31 turnovers in their last two games. The Red Foxes have 190 this season, an average of more than 17 per game.

Janning Nets BIG EAST Player of the Week
Fresh off a record setting performance to lead the Creighton women's basketball squad to an 80-64 win over Nebraska on Sunday, senior Marissa Janning was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week on Monday, Dec. 19.

In the Bluejays' lone game of the week, Janning sparked the decisive win over rival Nebraska game highs of 22 points and nine assists. The senior was hot from deep, sinking a career-high seven three-pointers to set a D.J. Sokol Arena record for made triples. Janning's 22 points were a season-high for the senior, while the nine dimes matched a season best. Janning added four boards and two steals as Creighton halted Nebraska's three-game win streak over the Bluejays in the annual rivalry game. This is Janning's first BIG EAST Player of the Week certificate of the season and third of her career.

With victories over Nebraska-Omaha (82-45 on Dec. 7) and Nebraska (80-64 on Dec. 18), the Bluejays owned the State for the 2016-17 season.The last time the Bluejays swept the season from its two intrastate rivals was during the 1986-87 season.

Although it was close to 0 outside, senior Marissa Janning needed a heat check against Nebraska on Sunday, Dec. 18. The Minnesota native set an arena record with seven three pointers (7-of-11) as she led Creighton with 22 points in the Bluejays' 80-64 win.
