Women's Tennis Downs Wisconsin-Green Bay, 5-0, to Net First Win

DES MOINES, Iowa - Creighton Women's Tennis wrapped up its weekend road trip on Sunday with a commanding, neutral-site win over Wisconsin-Green Bay in Des Moines, Iowa. The Bluejays downed Wisconsin-Green Bay, 5-0, with all six players finding the win column.
The doubles duos of Katherine Neslen and Karlin Naslund, and Ashley Monaco and Sam Anderson got the Bluejays (1-3) off to a strong start, earning wins at No. 2 and No. 3 Doubles, respectively.
Creighton carried that momentum into singles play, besting the Phoenix (0-4) at four of the six positions.
Earning there second respective singles wins of the weekend were Ashley Ishimura and Anderson. Ishimura defeated Stephanie Londre, 6-1, 6-1, at the top spot, while Anderson downed Maria Neff, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 Singles.
Naslund capped an unbeaten day by earning a convincing, 6-0, 6-0, win over Noel Peck at No. 6 Singles, and Darby Rosette followed suit with a 6-1, 6-2 win at the third singles position.
"Today our girls did what they needed to do to get the victory," Creighton head coach Tom Lilly said. "We have improved over the course of this past week but will have to continue that. We have a match on Wednesday against a very good UNO team and we will have to be very sharp mentally and physically that day."
Hopefully, we are getting injuries out of the way and can get healthier as the season progresses," Lilly added "Today, it was Claire out with a strained tendon and we also hope to have Michaela back in a few weeks. Everyone else is stepping up and improving."
The Bluejays will be back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 10 as they take on Omaha at 12:30 p.m., at the Hanscom Tennis Center in Omaha.
