BIG EAST Announces Schedule/Brackets For Tennis Championships

Creghton earns No. 7 seed on men's side
NEW YORK -Â The seeds and schedule have been set for the 2016 BIG EAST Men's and Women's Tennis Championships Presented by Jeep, which is set to take place Thursday, April 28 through Sunday, May 1 at the Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center in Cayce, S.C.

Seeds are determined by a committee that reviews each team's regular-season schedule, ITA rankings, results against BIG EAST and common non-conference opponents and wins/losses against ranked foes.
Â
The DePaul women earned the No. 1 seed on the women's side, while St. John's was named the top men's seed, exact replicas of the top seeds in 2014 and 2015.

For the women, No. 8 Creighton and No. 9 Providence will start the Championship off at 9 a.m. (ET) on Thursday, coinciding with No. 7 Villanova vs. No. 10 Villanova.

On Friday, the women's quarterfinals continue with No. 1 DePaul facing the winner of Creighton/Providence and No. 2 Xavier taking on the winner of Villanova/Butler. No. 3 St. John's will face local foe No. 6 Seton Hall and fourth-seeded Georgetown will play against No. 5 Marquette.

Semifinal action continues on Saturday at 9 a.m. The Championship match will be played on Sunday at 9 a.m.

For the men, play in the eight-team tournament begins with quarterfinal action on Friday at 12:30 p.m. (ET). The top seeded Red Storm will face No. 8 Villanova, No. 2 Marquette will play No. 7 Creighton, No. 3 DePaul will face No. 6 Butler and the fourth-seeded Georgetown will take on No. 5 Xavier.

The men's semifinals will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The semifinal winners will clash on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. for a chance at the 2016 league title.
