Bluejay WBB Continues BIG EAST Schedule Against Georgetown on Saturday

Omaha, Neb. -- Coming off a 69-54 win over #18 Villanova, the Creighton women's basketball team will battle Georgetown on Saturday looking to sweep its opening homestand in BIG EAST action.

Georgetown has had a bit of a roller coaster season. The Hoyas have claimed two wins at a time, followed by at least two losses. Georgetown enters Saturday's contest with consecutive victories at VCU and Providence.
The Hoyas are led by Dionna White (18.3 ppg) Mikayla Venson (14.1 ppg) and Cynthia Petke (12.1 ppg). Beyond this trio, Georgetown has a large dropoff to its fourth leading scorer in Yazmine Belk (5.3 ppg).
In the Hoyas win over Providence, Georgetown forced 30 turnovers. On the season the Hoyas have force 216 turnovers (19.6 per game).

The victory over #18 Villanova on Dec. 28th was special for head coach Jim Flanery as he earned his 300th win as the Bluejays' head coach.
Already the Creighton leader in victories, Flanery needed just 495 games at the helm to claim his milestone win.
Bluejays victory of 18th-Ranked Wildcats First Over Ranked Opponent Since 2013-14
Creighton's 69-54 win over #18 Villanova on Dec. 28th moved the Bluejays to 5-30 against ranked foes under head coach Jim Flanery. The last time the Bluejays upset a ranked opponent came on Feb. 23, 2014 over #22 St. John's, 65-62.

While Rare, Winning the Turnover Battle With the Wildcats Gets Results
For just the second time in their series with Villanova, the Bluejays won the turnover battle on Dec. 28. In both of those game Creighton posted victories.
Looking over the Wildcats last four seasons, dating back to the start of the 2014-15 season, Villanova lost the turnover category just 29 times in 104 games. The Wildcats were 13-16 (44.9%) in those contests, while was 59-16 (78.7%) when Villanova is even or wins the turnover battle.
Lamberty Just 12 Assists of Becoming Second Bluejay with 1,000 Points/500 Rebounds/400 Assists
Senior Sydney Lamberty sits just 12 assists shy of becoming only the second player in Creighton history to reach at least 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 400 assists. Heading into the battle with Georgetown Sydney sits with 1,020 points, 518 rebounds and 388 assists.
Lamberty would join former Bluejay Marissa Janning, who finished her career with 1,934 points, 618 rebounds and 507 assists.

- The Paint: Georgetown has consistently been a matchup concern for Creighton due to their ability to score in the post. The Bluejays must control Petke (10.7 rpg) and Belk down low.
- White & Burton: Pairing the talent in the paint, the Hoyas are also strong at the guard position with Dionna White (18.3 ppg) and Didi Burtton, who shined in D.J. Sokol Arena last season (19 points on Jan. 8).
