Tidbits from 2017 Opener
- Creighton's opening day lineup at UAB on Feb. 17 featured six players that had not played one inning for the Bluejays.
- The top two hitters in Creighton's opening day lineup, Jason Allbery and Isaac
- Collins, were both freshmen. It marks the first time under Ed Servais that Creighton had a freshman hitting 1st & 2nd in the starting line-up.
- Allbery hitting leadoff marked for just second time since 2008 that a freshman topped the lineup for the Bluejays. The only other time was Brad McKewon, once, on March 13, 2011.
- Allbery was the first Creighton first baseman to hit leadoff since Nick Judkins on June 5, 2011.
- Another Allbery factoid, his home run in the opener was just the second freshman to homer in their debut under Servais, joining Michael Blatchford, 2010.
