Baseball Host McNeese State in Late Non-Conference Series

Omaha, Neb. -- An action packed weekend begins with Cox Kids Day on Friday for the Creighton Baseball team as the Bluejays face McNeese State in a three-game series this weekend.
The series will not only feature Cox Kids Day (Friday), Creighton will celebrate Military and First Responders Day Saturday night and honor its seniors on Sunday.

Creighton vs. McNeese State Series
Cowboys lead, 2-0
The Bluejays and Cowboys have met twice previously, in 1992 and 1995. McNeese State took both meetings with Creighton, 10-8 on Feb. 29, 1992 and 9-6 on Feb. 21, 1995. Both of those meetings took place in tournaments held at McNeese State. This will be the first trip to Omaha for the Cowboys.
Creighton and McNeese State have one common opponent in 2017 as both squads faced Abilene Christian in a three game road series. The Cowboys swept ACU in early April, while the Bluejays were swept in early March.

The Cowboys opened the season 4-4, before taking 11 of 12. McNeese continued to cruise until dropping three straight heading to Omaha.
The strength of McNeese State is its offense, the Cowboys come to Omaha hitting .301 as a team. Leading the way are Shane Selman (.357) and Joe Provenzano (.353), but four other regulars also carry an average better than .300.
On the mound McNeese State carries a team ERA of 4.32. Closer Trent Fontenot and reliever Peyton McLemore pace the team with a 2.39 ERA and 2.33 ERA respectively.
