Creighton vs. Nebraska-Omaha Series
Bluejays lead, 50-30
Creighton holds a decided advantage over the Mavericks, but under Servais the edge is proportional. The Bluejays have won five of the eight meetings with UNO under Ed Servais, including the single contests in each of the last two years. The Bluejays and Mavericks have played in Werner Park once, on March 30, 2013. Creighton won that contest, 11-4. The two teams had one other battle scheduled in Werner (April 2, 2014), but rain washed it out.
Scouting Nebraska-Omaha (12-32, 9-13 Summit)
Just as the Bluejays stumbled out of the gate, UNO got off to a 1-14 start to the 2017 season under first year head coach Evan Porter. Since then the Mavericks are 11-18, but took two of three from Fort Wayne over the weekend.
The Maverick offense enters Tuesday's contest hitting .246 as a team, led by the trio of Cole Thibodeau (.287), Grant Sponchick (.284) and Sam Palensky (.282).
On the mound UNO brings a 6.96 ERA, with Tuesday's starter Cal Hehnke bringing a 6.23 ERA. Hehnke will be making just his second start of the season.
Creighton vs. Nebraska Series
Huskers lead, 90-44-2
Creighton and Nebraska are familiar foes on the baseball field. Nebraska holds an 90-44-2 series edge on Creighton.
When playing in Omaha the Huskers hold a 51-17-1 edge over the Bluejays. While in Lincoln Nebraska's edge is 39-27-1.
Head coach Ed Servais is 13-27 versus Nebraska in his career, including a 9-16 mark in Omaha.
Creighton went 1-2 against the Huskers last season, defeating Nebraska 4-3 in walk-off fashion on April 12 at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha.
This season the two squads have split the first two meetings. Nebraska won the game in Lincoln easily, 14-6. Creighton came back to take the second game, 5-2
Scouting Nebraska (29-16-1, 12-5-1 Big Ten)
Nebraska has won seven of its last eight games and 8 of 10 since the last time the Huskers faced the Bluejays.
The Huskers' offense brings a .275 average to the rubber match, led by Scott Schreiber (.335), Angelo Altavilla (.309) and Jake Meyers (.306).
On the bump the Huskers bring a 3.61 ERA in 408.2 innings. Nebraska pitchers have allowed 408 hits as a team.
