Sven Koenig Earns Google Cloud Academic All-America Division I Men's Soccer First Team Honors

Koenig claims a 4.0 GPA in finance and was also named to United Soccer Coaches All-East Region First Team
OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton men's soccer's Sven Koenig earned a spot on the Google Cloud Academic All-America Division I Men's Soccer First Team, as selected by CoSIDA, the organization announced on Thursday morning.
Koenig is the first player from the men's soccer program to earn Academic All-America honors since Fabian Herbers and Vincent Keller in 2015. Koenig is also the Bluejays' third First Team Academic All-American, joining Herbers (2015) and Brain Holt (2011).
The Westhofen, Germany native claims a 4.0 GPA while studying finance. A recent United Soccer Coaches All-East Region First Team selection, Koenig tallied a BIG EAST-best 10 goals during the 2018 season. He also earned BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year accolades after posting seven goals during nine league matches.
Koenig is one of two BIG EAST men's soccer players listed on the Academic All-America teams as Marquette's Luka Prpa made the Second Team.
Sixteen of the 33 members of the Google Cloud Academic All-America Division I men's soccer teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA. The 12 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.97, with the entire men's team holding a collective average GPA of 3.91
Since the start of the 2017-18 academic year, Koenig is Creighton's fifth CoSIDA Academic All-American.
New Mexico's Simon Spangenberg earned the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Academic All-American of the Year award.
