Women's Golf Finishes 7th At ORU/SFA Spring Break Invitational

Sydney Gillespe led the Bluejays with a 13th place finish
TROPHY CLUB, Texas – Sydney Gillespie paced the Creighton women's golf team for a second straight meet and guided the Bluejays to a seventh-place finish at the ORU/SFA Spring Break Invitational on Wednesday.
The meet was held at Trophy Club (Texas) Country Club, which played to a par 72 and 6,205 yards. The Bluejays posted a three-round total of 962 (333-317-312) at the event which was dual hosted by Oral Roberts and Stephen F. Austin.
Northern Iowa won the meet with a score of 922 (314-309-299), outdistancing second-place UT-Arlington by 22 strokes. UNI placed three golfers in the top-eight, led by the meet's runner up Paige Van Dyk's 226 (78-76-72). ORU's Kennedy Ishee won the meet by one stroke, posting scores of 76, 75 and 74 for a winning total of 225 (+9).
Gillespie led the Bluejays by logging rounds of 78, 79 and 80, as the junior finished tied for 13th with a total of 237, just two strokes outside of a top-10 finish. Senior Sarah Eversman followed closely behind with a 22nd-place finish and 239 strokes (83-79-77). Freshman Margaret Hickey recorded Creighton's best round of the event with a third-round 76 to help her finish with a three-round total of 243 (86-81-76).
Junior Rachel Grenko (91-78-79=248) and freshman Amelia Lee (86-82-82=250) helped the Bluejays post a team score of 312 on Wednesday, which was tied for fourth on the meet's final day.
Creighton returns to the links April 9-10 at the Kansas City Intercollegiate at Creekmoor Golf Club in Raymore, Missouri.
