Bluejay Baseball Out Slugs Kansas, 14-11

The win moved the Bluejays to 20-7 on the season, while Kansas fell to 19-14 overall.
The Bluejays capitalized on a error allowing junior Clark Brinkman to reach in the first to take a 1-0 lead. Brinkman moved to second on a single from sophomore Isaac Collins, then a walk to junior Michale Emodi loaded the bags. One out the later a slow roller to second by junior Thomas Luevano sent Brinkman to score.
Kansas answered with two runs on two hits a a Bluejay error in the second, getting an RBI groundout from Luke Bakula and an RBI single from David Kyriacou.
Creighton responded with a five spot in the second to reclaim the lead 6-2. The Bluejay carousel around the bases began with one down as junior Ryan Mantle singled up the middle. Sophomore Parker Upton poked a single to left, then Brinkman ripped a two-run double to left to give Creighton a 3-2 lead. Collins put runners at first and second with a walk, then with two down in the frame Robertson blasted his sixth home run into right field to give the Bluejays a 6-2 edge.
Creighton tacked on five more runs in the fourth via an RBI single by Robertson, an RBI double from Luevano, a two run triple by junior Jack Strunc and an RBI single from Allbery to make it 11-2.
Kansas got back in the game with three runs in the fifth, but the Creighton responded with three runs in the fifth themselves. Robertson delivered the big blow in the fifth with a two-run triple.
The Jayhawks continued to battle, plating four runs in the sixth to make it 14-9, but the Bluejays held on the for 14-11 victory.
Five different Creighton hitters delivered multi-hit performance, led by three hits form Mantle and Robertson. Meanwhile four Bluejays had at least two RBI in the contest, led by Robertson's six.
The 25 combined runs set a TD Ameritrade Park Omaha record for combined runs in one game.
Creighton starter Preston Church earned the win (4-2), allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits in two innings.
Meanwhile Kansas starter Conner VanCleave suffered the loss (0-1), surrendering six runs (five earned) on six this in 1.2 innings
The Bluejays return to the diamond on Friday, April 13 as Creighton travels to New York to begin a three-game series with St. John's at 2:00 pm.
