Women's Golf Finishes Sixth at BIG EAST Championship

Three Bluejays tie for 24th place in final meet of the season
OKATIE, S.C. -- Sarah Eversman, Sydney Gillespie and Amelia Lee tied for 24th place to lead the Creighton women's golf team to a sixth-place finish at the BIG EAST Championship Presented by Jeep, which concluded in Okatie, S.C., on Sunday.
The meet was the final one for Creighton's lone senior, Eversman, who had rounds of 82, 82 and 83. In figures dating back to 2003-04, Eversman owns the school record for career scoring average (80.01) and career rounds played (114). The Scottsdale, Ariz., native's 2017-18 campaign also established marks for single-season scoring average (78.7). As a team, Creighton's 320.3 scoring average per round this season was also the program's best mark in the past 15 years.
Gillespie opened with CU's best score of the weekend, a 79 on Friday, before the junior closed with rounds of 82 and 86 for a 247 total. Lee was competing in her first BIG EAST Championship and the freshman had rounds of 83, 83 and 81.
Junior Caroline Lake placed 29th, improving from an opening round 90 to close with scores of 84 and 82. Margaret Hickey also improved each day, going from a 92 to an 87 before closing her freshman season with an 82.
Georgetown won its second straight BIG EAST title with a three-round total of 903 (299-306-298) to defeat runner-up Seton Hall by 20 shots. The Hoyas' Jacquelyn Eleey won medalist honors by seven shots with a 222 (71-78-73) aggregate. Six teams and 30 players competed on the Callawassie Island Golf Club course, which measured 6,010 yards and was a par 72 circuit.
