Scouting the Bluejays (2018: 26-15, 5-9 BIG EAST)
After dropping their second straight BIG EAST series at home, the Bluejays come into this midweek battle with Nebraska and UNO scuffling a bit. Looking to get back on track before their Creighton's final BIG EAST series of 2018, the Bluejays will likely rely heavily on their bullpen.
In each of Creighton's two victories over Nebraska this season, southpaw Preston Church got the start and the win. Church, however, started the Bluejays's game on Sunday and is unlikely to return to the mound either Tuesday or Wednesday.
Odd Series Finale Will See Nebraska as the Designated Home Team
The third game in the annual series between Creighton and Nebraska has been played in TD Ameritrade Park. As in 2014 and 2016, Nebraska is the designated home team on
Tuesday and will hit in the bottom of each inning.
Wednesday's contest with Mavericks to Be Played in Werner Park
The battle between UNO and the Bluejays will see Creighton travel to other facility built when the College World Series left Rosenblatt Stadium. As TD Ameritrade Park Omaha was built for the CWS, Werner Park became the new home of Kansas City's AAA Affiliate, the Omaha Storm Chasers in 2011.
While Creighton moved into TDAPO, the Mavericks play selected games at Werner Park.
Scouting the Huskers (2018: 22-23)
Nebraska has struggled this season, but appears to have turned the corner with five victories in its last six games.
The Huskers turnaround started just after their last meeting with Creighton, sweeping a weekend series from Nevada (April 26-28) and two of three last weekend from Maryland.
Tuesday is Nebraska's last midweek game of the season as the Huskers close the season with weekend battles against Indiana and Illinois Â
On the bump the Huskers team ERA is 5.55 and have not yet named a starter for Tuesday.
Nebraska has come alive at the plate during their winning streak, moving its team average to .273. Two Huskers lead the charge at the dish in Scott Schreiber (.387) and Jesse Wilkening (.363).
Bluejays vs. Nebraska
Creighton trails the series with the Huskers, 91-46-2. Since Ed Servais took the reigns for the Bluejays, Creighton is 15-28 against the Huskers. Creighton, however, has a chance to sweep the annual three-game set with Nebraska for the first time. The Bluejays did take the first three of four-game series in 1989, 1990 & 1993.
Scouting the Mavericks (2018: 14-28)
While Nebraska caught fire after playing Creighton, UNO has fallen on hard times since claiming an 8-7 win over Nebraska on April 18 (the Mavericks dropped a 9-2
decision to Creighton on April 17).
Since the back-to-back meetings with Creighton and Nebraska, UNO has lost nine of 10 contests.
The Mavericks are hitting just .240 at the plate as a team, while UNO has a team ERA of 5.24.
Bluejays vs. UNO
Creighton leads the series with the Mavericks, 52-30. Head coach Ed Servais is 7-3 against UNO.
