Elger and Saunders Vault Creighton to 53-52 Win at Xavier
Trailing 52-48 with under two minutes to play at Xavier on Feb. 17, junior Olivia Elger took matters into her hands. The Illinois native drove the lane for the traditional three-point play to make it 52-51, then following a defensive stop she drilled a jumper to give Creighton the lead with under 30 seconds remaining. The final position of the game saw freshman Rachael Saunders block a Xavier three-point attempt, preserving Creighton's win.
Carda Shined in Comeback Win Over Musketeers
While Saunders and Elger closed the game for Creighton at Xavier, sophomore Temi Carda brought the Bluejays back from down 12 (43-31) with just over eight minutes remaining. The Minnesota native led the Bluejays with 18 points, including 11 in the second half alone.
