Ragan Claims BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week, Robertson Earns BIG EAST Honor Roll Slot

New York, N.Y. -- Senior ace Mitch Ragan's dominant complete game performance against Seton Hall on Thursday, April 18th was rewarded as the Omaha native earned the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week honor on Monday, April 22nd. From the Bluejays' offense Will Robertson's team leading six RBI against the Pirates, fueled by a pair of home runs on Friday, April 19th, earned Creighton's outfielder a spot on the BIG EAST Honor Roll
Ragan went the distance in a 5-1 victory against Seton Hall on Friday. Ragan pitched a nine-inning two-hitter, holding the Pirates scoreless until a solo homer in the ninth, notching seven strikeouts along the way. Just four Seton Hall batters reached base in the game as Ragan needed 102 pitches to record the complete game victory. The Bluejays swept Seton Hall in the series, moving up second in the league standings with a 5-1 record.

BIG EAST Player of the Week
Mike Antico, St. John's, Jr., OF (Colts Neck, N.J.)
St. John's junior outfielder Mike Antico hit .500 (7-for-14) for the week with included a 2-1 series win over Villanova and a non-league win over Fairleigh Dickinson. In the series against the Wildcats, Antico batted .600 (6-for-10) with three runs, eight RBI, a double and three home runs. After going down 0-1 to Villanova in the series, Antico had the best offensive performance by a St. John's player in nearly a decade as he went 4-for-4 and hit all four of his extra-base hits. He also walked twice to reach base in all six of his plate appearances. Antico was responsible for driving in seven of the 24 runs. In the series' clincher, Antio went 1-for-2 with another RBI and two more walks, two stolen bases. His weekly slugging percentage was 1.214 with a .632 on-base percentage. Antico went 1-for-4 against FDU with two runs scored and a walk. St. John's is third in the league standings with a 5-4 record.

Creighton senior righty Mitch Ragan went the distance in a 5-1 victory against Seton Hall on Friday. Ragan had held the Pirates scoreless until a solo homer in the ninth, notching seven strikeouts along the way. BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Ryan Pepiot, Butler, Jr., RHP
Pepiot pitched 6.0 innings in an eventual 6-5 loss to Xavier on Thursday. Pepiot's no-decision appearance included 120 pitches with just four hits. He struck out a season-high 13 batters and walked four as he left the mound with no runs scored against him.
Will Robertson, Creighton, Jr., OF
Robertson led the Creighton offense with six RBI in a three-game sweep of Seton Hall. The right fielder closed the week 4-for-14 (.286) with two home runs and three runs scored. He delivered the game-winning RBI in Saturday's finale and blasted a pair of home runs in the Bluejays 11-1 win on Friday to clinch the series.
Kyle Ruedisili, Georgetown, Grad., OF
Ruedisili helped Georgetown to a 2-0 weekend against non-conference foe Rider (12-7, 10-9) as he batted .444 (4-for-9) with four runs scored and four RBI. Ruedisili also had two doubles in game one of the doubleheader on Saturday. Ruedisili's stat line included 1.000 slugging percentage and a .455 on-base percentage.
Nick LoRusso, Villanova, Fr., RHP/DH/INF
LoRusso was a true utility asset to the Wildcats in Villanova's 5-1 victory at St. John's on Thursday afternoon. On the mound, LoRusso earned his first collegiate win allowing just five hits in 6.0 innings, three strikeouts and no runs in 96 pitches. At the plate, LoRusso delivered a double in the top of the seventh to spur a three-run rally which led to the win. LoRusso batted .462 (6-for-13) with two runs, two RBI, a double and a home run in the series, which the Wildcats lost 1-2.
Luke Franzoni, Xavier, Fr., OF
Franzoni hit .600 (6-for-10) for the week which included a 2-0 series win over Butler and a loss to non-conference foe Ohio State. Against the Musketeers, Franzoni batted .750 (6-for-8) with three runs, two RBI, a double, a homer and a walk. His weekly stat line included 1.000 slugging and .692 on-base percentage. In XU's 6-5 win over Butler on Friday, he went 3-for-3 with a home run.
