Women's Soccer Adds Karli Kopietz as an Assistant Coach

Omaha, Neb. -- Creighton women's soccer head coach Ross Paule announced the hiring of Karli Kopietz as Creighton's assistant coach on Monday, July 8.
Kopietz joins the Bluejays after spending the past six seasons as an assistant coach at North Dakota State, the Minnesota native (Champlin, Minn.) also served as a volunteer assistant for Bison in 2012. From 2012-13, she also instructed the goalkeepers for the Tri-City Soccer Club and was the head coach of the club's U17 and U15 girls team. Kopietz holds a United Soccer Coaches (formerly the NSCAA) National Diploma, USSF C-License, and Level three goalkeeping certification from the United Soccer Coaches, as well as a goalkeeping diploma certification.Â
Kopietz graduated from NDSU with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and a minor in sociology.

As she was for North Dakota State, Kopietz will work directly with the Bluejay goalkeepers and assist with all day-to-day aspects within the program.
During her six seasons with the Bison, North Dakota State goalkeepers posted an average of seven shutouts per season including a pair of nine shutout campaigns.
Kopietz was goalkeeper for NDSU in 2005 after transferring from the University of Minnesota. She was named the 2005 Division I Independent Defensive Player of the Year and is the NDSU career leader with a goals against average of 0.84. As a freshman in 2002, Kopietz earned the Most Valuable Defensive Player distinction for Minnesota and set the freshman record for saves in a season with 92.
"I am very excited to welcome Karli into our Creighton women's soccer staff. She brings great passion, expertise and experience to develop our goalkeepers, but also is a complete coach that will impact our overall team and program," said Paule.
