Men's Soccer Posts Game-Winner During 88th Minute To Outlast UNO, 2-1

Luke Haakenson found the back of the net during the 88th minute for the game-winning goal
OMAHA, Neb. – A goal during the 88th minute from Luke Haakenson lifted the Creighton men's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Nebraska-Omaha on Monday night at Morrison Stadium.
The Bluejays improved to 3-2-1 on the year, while the Mavericks fell to 0-4-2 overall.
Haakenson found the back of the net during the 88th minute after receiving a cross from Musa Qongo. Qongo handled a pass from Luke Mitchell before sprinting towards the left side of the box and sending a pass towards Haakenson at the near post.
The Bluejay senior converted on his fourth shot of the match and the team's 13th shot of the second half. Creighton outshot the Mavericks 13-2 in the second half while playing with a man advantage after a red card during the 38th minute.
Nebraska-Omaha opened the scoring in the 26th minute. The Mavericks' Marcos Bautista sent a free kick across the box to the back post where Seth Rinderknecht headed the ball past the end line to give UNO a 1-0 lead.
Creighton evened the score during the 38th minute. A corner kick from sophomore Charles Auguste struck multiple players in the box before the ball found its way to senior Tor Trosten who blasted a shot past Maverick goalkeeper Jeremy Pollard for the Bluejays' first goal of the match.
Tensions flared during the closing moments of the first half as the Mavericks picked up a straight red card in the 39th minute and played the remainder of the match a man down.
A total of 27 fouls, four yellow cards and two red cards were issued on Monday night.
The Bluejays ended the night with a significant advantage in shots (19-8) while holding a 13-3 edge in corner kicks. Bluejay goalkeeper Collin Valdivia only had to collect one save to record the win.
Creighton will hit the road to open up BIG EAST play on Friday when the Bluejays visit Marquette. First touch between the Bluejays and the Golden Eagles is schedule for 7:30 pm in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
