Women's Soccer Begins Three-Match Road Trip at Kansas City

Omaha, Neb. -- After opening the 2019 season with six straight home matches, culminating with the 3-1 win over Oklahoma. Now Creighton faces a difficult three-match week that will send the Bluejays to Kansas City, then to Florida for a pair of weekend matches. Similar to Creighton, Kansas City has enjoyed an extended home stretch to begin 2019. The Roos will be playing their sixth of eight matches this year at home.

Scouting Kansas City (5-0-2)
The Roos are Creighton's first road match of the season. Kansas City posted victories in its first four matches, then battled Missouri State and Drake to draws last week. The Roos last match came on Sept. 13th as Kansas City bested Northern Iowa 4-0. Kansas City is 5-0-0 at home in 2019.
On the season the Roos have been beyond stingy, allowing just three goals in seven matches. Kansas City has split time between a pair of goalkeepers as sophomore Afton Fennewald have allowed two goals in four matches, while senior Erin Roth has surrendered one goal in three matches.
Offensively the Roos have scored 13 goals, led by four goals from sophomore Rylan Childers, who also leads Kansas City with four assists and 12 points. Five of the Roos remaining 9 goals have come from Omaha freshman Lindsey Prokop (three goals) and Lincoln senior Halle Hamilton (two goals).
The Roos have a total of 11 players on their roster from Nebraska.
Bluejays Off to Best Start Under Paule
With five victories in six matches, the Bluejays have gotten off to their best six match start under head coach Ross Paule.

Heinrich Collects Second Consecutive BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Creighton freshman Skylar Heinrich followed her four-goal match against Eastern Michigan, a 5-2 win on Sept. 8, last week with a goal and two assists in Creighton's 3-1 win over (RV) Oklahoma on Sunday, Sept. 15th. The Omaha native's performance earned her a second consecutive BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honor on Monday, Sept. 16th.
In addition Bluejay senior Taryn Jakubowski claimed a spot on the BIG EAST Honor Roll as the Illinois native scored Creighton's second and third goal in the win over the Sooners.

The Bluejays' talented rookie, Heinrich, notched four points on a goal and two assists, factoring in each of Creighton's goals in a 3-1 win over Oklahoma on Sunday. Heinrich got the Bluejays on the scoreboard first in the 17th minute, racing into the box for a through ball from Ansley Atkinson. Heinrich beat Oklahoma goalkeeper Megan McClay in a one-on-one battle for her seventh goal of the season. Just under eight minutes later Heinrich drew the Sooner defense to her, then found Taryn Jakubowski making a run through the middle to put Creighton up 2-0. Late in the second half the duo connected once more for another goal as Heinrich centered a ball at the top of the box for Jakubowski.
The Bluejay leader, Jakubowski, delivered her third career multi-goal match in Creighton's 3-1 win over Oklahoma (RV) on Sunday in Creighton's only match of the week. Jakubowski scored Creighton's second and third goals of the contest, collecting the game-winning goal in the 25th minute. Her first goal saw the senior take a pass from Skylar Heinrich on a center run, then beat three Sooner defenders before besting the Oklahoma keeper. The final Creighton goal also saw Heinrich draw the defense to her, then center a ball just inside the box for Jakubowski to come racing in for a goal in the 85th minute.
Sullivan Keeps Momentum in Bluejays' 3-1 win over Oklahoma with a First Half Penalty Kick Save
Holding a 2-0 lead late in the first half, Creighton sophomore goalkeeper Katie Sullivan stopped a Sooner penalty kick with a dive to the right. Sullivan went on to make four saves in the win, fending off 12 shots by Oklahoma in the second half. Sullivan bounced one of her three second half saves off the cross bar when the match was 2-1 in the 76th minute.
