Heinrich Collects Second Consecutive BIG EAST Freshman of the Week

Jakubowski Nabs a Spot on the BIG EAST Honor Roll
Omaha, Neb. -- Creighton freshman Skylar Heinrich followed her four-goal match against Eastern Michigan, a 5-2 win on Sept. 8, last week with a goal and two assists in Creighton's 3-1 win over (RV) Oklahoma on Sunday, Sept. 15th. The Omaha native's performance earned her a second consecutive BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honor on Monday, Sept. 16th.
In addition Bluejay senior Taryn Jakubowski claimed a spot on the BIG EAST Honor Roll as the Illinois native scored Creighgton's second and third goal in the win over the Sooners.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Taryn Jakubowski, Creighton, Sr., M
The Bluejay leader, Jakubowski, delivered her third career multi-goal match in Creighton's 3-1 win over Oklahoma (RV) on Sunday in Creighton's only match of the week. Jakubowski scored Creighton's second and third goals of the contest, collecting the game-winning goal in the 25th minute. Her first goal saw the senior take a pass from Skylar Heinrich on a center run, then beat three Sooner defenders before besting the Oklahoma keeper. The final Creighton goal also saw Heinrich draw the defense to her, then center a ball just inside the box for Jakubowski to come racing in for a goal in the 85th minute.

BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Amanda Carolan, Georgetown, Grad., F
Carolan was the BIG EAST's points leader last week despite facing a pair of formidable opponents. The graduate student scored the overtime game winner against Ivy League favorite RV Princeton on Thursday, while also assisting on Jenna Royson's 77th-minute game-tying score. Against No. 23 West Virginia on Sunday, Carolan capped the 15th-ranked Hoyas' scoring in the 83rd minute as GU picked up its second result against a ranked opponent this season. In the 2-0 week for Georgetown, Carolan totaled five points and four shots.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Hayley Jakovich, Xavier, So., D
Jakovich helped extend the Musketeers' shutout streak to 380 minutes with two more clean sheets this week. Xavier blanked Northern Kentucky, 4-0, and Cincinnati, 0-0, last week, outshooting the two squads by a combined 33-10 margin. The sophomore led the defense which didn't allow a single shot on net on Thursday against NKU, while holding the Bearcats to just four shots on goal on Sunday. Xavier's 0.79 goals against average ranks second in the BIG EAST this season while its five shutouts are two more than the next closest team.
BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Mollie Eriksson, DePaul, So., GK
Eriksson was the top goalkeeper with multiple appearances under her belt last week, posting a 1-0-1 record, including a shutout of local foe Loyola Chicago on Thursday, along with a 0.45 goals against average and .889 save percentage. She registered four saves per match, including a double-overtime draw with reigning MAC champion Bowling Green, and played all 200 minutes in DePaul's unbeaten week.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Anja Savich, Butler, So., F
In a 1-1 week for the Bulldogs, Savich scored a goal in each contest. She had Butler's lone goal against Illinois on Thursday before starting the scoring off in a 2-1 win over Kent State on Sunday.
Kristin Boos, DePaul, Fr., F
Boos totaled four points in a 1-0-1 week for the Blue Demons. The rookie scored the game winner at Loyola Chicago on Thursday before registering an assist on Morgan Turner's insurance goal. Against Bowling Green on Sunday, Boos once against assisted Turner, this time on a second half game-tying score.
Jenna Royson, Georgetown, So., D
Royson assisted on both sides of the field in a 2-0 week for the 15th-ranked Hoyas, scoring goals against RV Princeton and No. 23 West Virginia, while also leading the defense which blanked the Mountaineers. GU out shot both opponents by a combined 31-18 margin, including 13-7 on target.
Samantha Dewey, Xavier, R-Sr., M
Dewey notched her second multi-goal game of the season with two scores, including the game winner, against Northern Kentucky on Thursday. She added two shots in the Musketeers' scoreless draw at Cincinnati on Sunday.

The Bluejays' talented rookie notched four points on a goal and two assists, factoring in each of Creighton's goals in a 3-1 win over Oklahoma on Sunday. Heinrich got the Bluejays on the scoreboard first in the 17th minute, racing into the box for a through ball from Ansley Atkinson. Heinrich beat Oklahoma goalkeeper Megan McClay in a one-on-one battle for her seventh goal of the season. Just under eight minutes later Heinrich drew the Sooner defense to her, then found Taryn Jakowski making a run through the middle to put Creighton up 2-0. Late in the second half the duo connected once more for another goal as Heinrich centered a ball at the top of the box for Jakubowski.
