Bluejay Women's Soccer Continues Challenging Three-Match Week in Florida

Omaha, Neb. -- Coming off a pair of strong victories over (RV) Oklahoma and Kansas City, the Creighton women's soccer team continues a challenging three-match week with matches at Florida Gulf Coast (Friday) and at Florida Atlantic (Sunday) this weekend to close out non-conference play.

Scouting Florida Gulf Coast (3-3-0)
The Eagles are off to a 3-3-0 start, but have gone 3-1-0 this season, including an impressive 2-0 win over Ball State on Sunday, Sept. 15.
Outside of two road contests at Michigan (L, 0-2) and at Florida (L, 0-4), the Eagles have allowed just two goals in four matches. Florida Gulf Coast's three victories have each been shutouts, posted by starting goalkeeper Melissa Weck. The senior has allowed seven goals in just under 500 minutes for a 1.27 GAA.
Offensively FGCU is led by senior Marjorie Boilesen, who has four of the Eagles seven goals on the season. She also holds a team-best nine points on just nine shots.
Scouting (RV) Florida Atlantic (5-2-0)
For the third time this season the Bluejays will face a team receiving votes in the national poll as Creighton takes on Florida Atlantic on Sunday. Each team plays prior to this matchup
with the Owls taking on Marshall on Thursday night at home.
Florida Atlantic is 4-1 on the season at home, falling to Florida in overtime (3-2) in the opening match of the season. The Owls other loss came at #18 Kansas on Sept. 1st.
Since the season opener, freshman goalkeeper Cassidy Wasdin has allowed just four goals in six matches. On the season she has two shutouts and a 1.01 GAA.
Offensively the Owls have four players with at least three goals, led by five from senior Mary O'Hara. The New York native has two game-winning goals and has 12 shots.
Victory Over the Roos Gives Creighton its First Four-Match Win Streak Since 2016
Creighton boards the plane to Florida riding a four-match winning streak, including victories over (RV) Oklahoma and Kansas City in the last two contests. The last time the Bluejays posted a four-match win streak came from Sept. 4 - Sept. 25, 2016. Should Creighton collect a win on Friday night, it would be the programs first five-match winning streak since the squad opened the 2014 season with seven straight wins.
Bluejays Post First Regional Ranking Under Paule
With the release of the Regional Rankings for the East Region on Tuesday, Sept. 17, Creighton saw its first appearance since head coach Ross Paule took over prior to the 2015 season. The Bluejays posted a victory that evening to bolster the regional accolade. The East Region rankings for Sept. 17th featured four BIG EAST schools led by Georgetown at No. 1, Xavier at No. 3, Butler at No. 6 and Creighton at No. 9.
Heinrich Collects Second Straight Spot on TopDrawer Soccer's Honorable Mention
Building upon her second straight BIG EAST Freshman of the Week Award (Sept. 16th), Bluejay forward Skylar Heinrich earned a spot on TopDrawer Soccer's honorable mention for national team of the week on Sept. 17th. Heinrich delivered a goal and two assists in the win over (RV) Oklahoma on Sunday, Sept. 15th.
Bluejays Complete Hat Trick of Victories Over Big 12
With Wins over Kansas State, Iowa State and Oklahoma Creighton moved to 3-0-0 this season against the Big 12 in 2019, posting victories Kansas State (3-2), Iowa State (1-0) and Oklahoma (3-1). On the season BIG EAST teams are 5-0 against Big 12 squads.
Bluejays Off to Best Start Under Paule, Matching 2018 Win Total
With six victories in six matches, the Bluejays have gotten off to their best seven match start under head coach Ross Paule. Creighton also matched its 2018 win total (6-10-1) with the victory over Kansas City on Sept. 17th.

Terrell Makes First Start, Collects First Win, in Front of Home Fans
A native of Olathe, Kansas Creighton's redshirt freshman Keelan Terrell earned her first start as a Bluejay as Creighton faced off with Kansas City on Tuesday, Sept. 17th. Terrell made a pair of saves as she picked up her first collegiate win in front of her hometown fans.
