Women's Soccer Clashes with Iowa State and Eastern Michigan this Weekend

Omaha, Neb. -- The Bluejay women's soccer team will kick off the annual Socctoberfest activities on Friday, Sept. 6th as the Bluejays battle Iowa State at 4:30 pm. Later that evening the men's team takes on #21 Akron at 7:30 pm. The women's team continues play on Sunday against Eastern Michigan at 1:00 pm.

Series History: Creighton Trails Iowa State, 0-6-1
The Cyclones and the Bluejays have met seven times previously, with Iowa State holding a lead in the series over Creighton, 0-6-1. The two squads last met up in Ames, Iowa back in August of 2017, when the Cyclones topped the Bluejays 3-0. In two of the five battles between the programs in Omaha, Creighton has forced the Cyclones to extra time.

After opening the season with a 2-2 tie against Oakland and a 1-0 victory over Detroit Mercy, the Eagles struggled to find their offense. Eastern Michigan suffered back-to-back shutouts last weekend to move to 1-2-1 on the year.
Three different Eagles have collected a goal with freshman Amanda Cripps leading the offense with eight shots. The Eagles defense is led by redshirt junior goalkeeper Mabel Dunn, as she has accounted for 23 saves and a shutout in the 2019 season.
Bluejays 4-1-1 in Socctoberfest Matches
Creighton is 4-1-1 in Socctoberfest matches dating back to 2012. The Bluejays first Socctoberfest victory came on Sept. 5, 2014 when Creighton claimed a 6-0 victory over New Mexico State. The Bluejay women's squad did not play during the 2013 Socctoberfest.

Sullivan's Stellar Play Earns BIG EAST Honor Roll Slot
Bluejay sophomore Katie Sullivan collected a spot on the BIG EAST Honor Roll following four save and a shut out versus South Dakota State and eight saves in the loss to Clemson this past weekend.
Sullivan lead the Bluejays in saves last season with 88 saves and also collected five shutouts.
