About DePaul
Scouting DePaul (18-2, 9-0 BIG EAST)
The BIG EAST leading Blue Demons have met expectations with a perfect 9-0 record in BIG EAST play and riding a 10-game winning streak. DePaul's lone two losses came to top five teams in Oregon State (98-77 on Nov. 14th) and Connecticut (84-74 on Dec. 16th).
The Blue Demons are a high volume offense, led by four players averaging double figures. The trio of Chante Stonewall, Sonya Morris and Lexi Held lead DePaul with 17.2 ppg, 16.6 ppg and 15.0 ppg respectively. DePaul's starting five average 67.7 ppg, while the team posts 86.2 ppg.
DePaul is beyond adept at sharing the basketball, leading the BIG EAST with 19.9 assists per game. In addition, DePaul forces 22.2 turnovers per game.
If there is a flaw in the Blue Demons' armor it is their defense. DePaul allows its opposition to shoot 46.0 percent from the field (571-of-1,242).
Scouting Creighton (13-7, 5-4 BIG EAST)
After an 8-3 non-conference run, the Bluejays went 5-4 in the opening turn of BIG EAST play. The record itself may seem disappointing on paper, but when you consider the Bluejays rash of recent injuries it is on par with expectations.
The Bluejays have gone 1-2 without their top player Agnew, who averages better than 20 ppg. Although Agnew has been out, the Bluejays got a jolt with the return of junior point guard Tatum Rembao last weekend. In addition, junior Temi Carda and freshman Carly Bachelor have responded to the challenge by significantly increasing their level of play.
Bachelor posted consecutive double-doubles (her first two as a Bluejay) last weekend to claim the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, while Carda collected a spot on the BIG EAST honor role by averaging 19.5 ppg against Xavier and Butler.
Another area of the Bluejays game impacted by Agnew's absence is Creighton's defense. With Agnew on the floor the Bluejays are limiting teams to 61.9 ppg, in the three games without her that average has raised to 63.3 ppg. Conversely Creighton's offensive numbers have gone from 66.0 ppg to 62.3 ppg.
Keys To the Game
Freshman Carly Bachelor has answered Creighton's call in a big way as the Kansas native delivered 17 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Xavier (Jan. 24th), then posted 14 points and 12 rebounds against Butler (Jan. 26th).
Bachelor's efforts were so impressive she broke a string of five consecutive Freshman of the week honors by Villanova's Maddy Siegrist. Bachelor is just the third freshman this season to earn the honor as Siegrist has eight and St. John's Lelani Correa has three.
The last time a Bluejay recorded consecutive double-doubles was Jaylyn Agnew during the 2017-18 season as she put up 14 points and 12 rebounds against Seton Hall on Jan. 28, 2018, then posted 11 points and 10 rebounds at DePaul on
Feb. 2, 2018.
The last time a Bluejay freshman pulled off the feat was during the 2006-07 season when Sam Schuett did so against Bradley (12 points and 10 rebounds) on Feb. 1, 2007 then versus Northern Iowa (11 points and 10 rebounds) on Feb. 3, 2007.
Rembao Makes a Splash in Return
Sidelined for eight games with a knee injury, junior Tatum Rembao returned to the floor for Creighton against Xavier (Jan. 24th), then delivered a career-high 23 points two days later in the Bluejays tussle with Butler. Against the Bulldogs Rembao was 8-of-13 (61.5%) from the field, including 5-of-7 (71.4%) from beyond the arc. The point guard also led Creighton with five assists in the contest.

Keys To the Game
- Injuries: Playing with just eight healthy bodies against Butler on Sunday was a hindrance for the Bluejays. There is a possibility that Agnew, Brotzki and Saunders return to the court, which significantly impacts the game.
- Matching Shots with the Blue Demons: One of the keys to DePaul's success this season and beyond is the Blue Demons ability to create extra opportunities by forcing turnovers and grabbing offensive rebounds. To compete with DePaul the Bluejays must box out and limit turnovers.
- Shooting success: In the last three games with DePaul the Bluejays have shot a combined 50.6% (75-of-148). The result has been tense battles, but Creighton has dropped all three games. One reason be the Bluejays are 19-of-47 (40.4%) from beyond the arc in the three contests.
Freshman Carly Bachelor has answered Creighton's call in a big way as the Kansas native delivered 17 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Xavier (Jan. 24th), then posted 14 points and 12 rebounds against Butler (Jan. 26th).
