Creighton Prep standout will join the Bluejays next fall
OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton Prep standout Jake Boor has signed a letter-of-intent to join the Creighton University men's golf program starting in the fall of 2021.
Boor boasts an impressive background on the course, first making a name for himself in 2014 when he was named Nebraska Junior Golf Tour Player of the Year. He would repeat the same honor in 2017.
Boor secured the No. 1 player position as a freshman at Creighton Prep in 2018, and was named and All-Metro pick that spring. He was named All-State after a fantastic spring of 2019 that saw him finish as the runner-up at the Omaha Metro Championship and in Class A at the Nebraska state tournament, when he helped the Jr. Jays claim the team title.
Boor fired rounds of 72-75 earlier this year to place second at the Boys Jr. PGA Championship, and in 2017 took 28th at the US Kids Golf Teen World Championship. In between, he tied for first at the Scottsdale (Arizona) Jr. Open (2018), placed seventh at the Nebraska Jr. Match Play (2018), 14th at the Nebraska Jr. PGA Championship (2018), 43rd at the Nebraska Men's Amateur Championship (2018) and tied for 11th at the AJGA Kansas Junior (2019).
Boor's lowest tournament round is a 69, done on multiple occasions. He's coached in high school by Matt Rasgorshek, and also is guided by noted swing coach Tom Sieckmann.
Boor's success extends beyond the golf course. He owns a cumulative GPA over 4.00, is a member of the National Honor Society and received the Outstanding Academic Excellence Award. He is also on the Student Council, a Heartland Family Services member and part of the HOBY Leadership Program. In addition, Boor is a two-time Academic All-State choice (2018, 2019). At Creighton, he intends study in the Heider School of Business as a business or economics major.
