Scouting the Bluejays (2019: 41-13, 14-4 BIG EAST)
Coming off a strong showing in 2019 that yielded not only an NCAA Tournament run to the Regional Final, the Bluejays must
reload to repeat in 2020.
Creighton sent seven players from the 2019 squad on to the professional ranks, six via the MLB Draft. Each member of the weekend rotation either went in the draft (Mitch Ragan and Denson Hull) or signed an MLB free agent deal (Evan Johnson). In addition three players in the infield and right fielder Will Robertson were selected in June.
The plentiful success of the former Bluejays will pave the way for new birds to spread their wings. Senior Parker Upton will slide into the shortstop to start the season, while fellow senior Ryan Mantle returns from an injury to take over the hot corner. Another senior, Jason Allbery moves back in at first base as the Bluejays remain flush with
experience.
Behind the plate the tandem of David Vilches and Garrett Gilbert will share time, while the outfield sees Will Hanafan and Jared Wegner resume starting roles.

Scouting the Redhawks (2019: 13-39, 8-19 WAC)
The Redhawks return the top of their rotation in junior Jarrod Billig. A pair of sophomores follow in Ethan Christianson and Josh Thompson. All three of Seattle's arms in the opening weekend rotation saw at least 24 innings on the bump last year and started at least one game.
At the plate Seattle returns three of its top five hitters from last season, led by Kyle Sherick (.310 with 21 RBI) and Austin Lively (.298 with 20 RBI).
The Redhawks open the season with seven of their first 11 games at home. The remaining four take Seattle to Southern California to face UC Riverside, then play in the Tony Gwynn Legacy tournament.
