About St. John's
Scouting St. John's (18-11, 11-7 BIG EAST)
Winners of four out of their last five, St. John's climbed the rankings to earn the No. 3 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament. The Red Strom are coming off a dominate 74-37 performance against Xavier on March. 1st and a critical 85-80 win over Butler on February 28, jumping the Bulldogs in the standings.
Starting four guards, the Red Storm are averaging just under 73 points per game. St. John's has three players averaging double figures per game, led by senior Quadashah Hoppie's 16.0 ppg, while Correra's (12.3 ppg) and Alissa Alston (12.1 ppg) follow closely behind.
Defensively the Red Storm are still strong at pressuring the ball, forcing teams into 456 tournovers this season. However, St. John's has lapsed on the glass this season averaging just 34.4 rebounds per game.
Scouting Creighton (18-10, 10-7 BIG EAST)
A record-setting 43-point for Jaylyn Agnew on senior day helped the Bluejay top Georgetown 95-78 on March 1st, drawing the No. 6 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament. The Bluejays are riding a three-game win streak, but will matchup with St. John's in the BIG EAST Tournament for the fifth time since the realignment of the BIG EAST in 2013-14.
Senior Jaylyn Agnew leads the way for Creighton on offense averaging 20.8 ppg and 6.4 rpg, but four Bluejays average double-digits. Behind Agnew is Temi Carda (13.1 ppg), followed closely by Tatum Rembao (10.2 ppg) and Olivia Elger (10.2 ppg).
Defensively the Bluejays feel they've returned to the level of intensity that helped deliver success early this season over the last three games. That will be tested in the BIG EAST Tournament.
The X factor for the Bluejays maybe the contributions of sophomore Rachael Saunders and freshman Carly Bachelor. When Creighton can get scoring from those two off the bench, the Bluejays can be a very tough team to beat.

Keys To the Game on Saturday, March 7th
- Making the Red Storm Uncomfortable: In the last meeting between the two teams in Omaha, St. John's shot over 56% in the opening half. Creighton must make the Red Storm take tougher shots to advance on Saturday.
- Toughness: In the first meeting Creighton out rebounded the Red Storm 32-31 and as a result the Bluejays were in the lead late. In Omaha, St. John's held a 38-31 edge. The Bluejays have to match the Red Storm's toughness and tenacity to get loose balls. In addition, Creighton must not allow the Red Storm to get easy buckets via turnovers that result in transition points.
- Agnew and Carda: Agnew missed the first meeting in Queens, but Carda stepped in with 19 points. The duo combined for 19 points in Omaha. Creighton likely needs 25 points or more from its top two offensive options.
