Parker Boyd owns 40 wins, 427 strikeouts at Division I level
OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton softball head coach Brent Vigness has announced the addition of Lehigh grad transfer Parker Boyd for the 2021 season.
Boyd heads to Omaha after playing the previous four seasons at Lehigh, where the Battle Ground, Wash., native amassed 40 wins and 427 strikeouts in 476.1 innings of work, during which time she owned an ERA of 3.32. She was also a three-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll selection and twice named Academic All-Patriot League.
Boyd was considering Creighton and its Occupational Therapy graduate school program long before the coronavirus shut down the 2020 season prematurely, which granted her the opportunity for an additional year of eligibility. Now, she'll get a chance to do both.
"Parker is a quality pitcher with Division I experience and has been one of the better pitchers in the Patriot League in recent seasons," said Vigness. "She also a quality person and I've enjoyed getting to know her. I really think the world of the Lehigh program and coach Fran Troyan and know that Parker will be ready to compete in the BIG EAST."
She made her collegiate debut during the 2017 season, making 18 appearances and eight starts for the Patriot League Tournament champions.
Her best full season with the Mountain Hawks came in 2018, when she went 19-13 with a 2.57 ERA, striking out 187 batters in 204.2 innings and throwing five shutouts. She was named Second Team All-Patriot League after going 9-3 with a 1.66 ERA in conference play.
In 2019 she led Lehigh in games (34), starts (27), innings pitched (152.2) and strikeouts (137), going 12-11 with a 3.44 ERA.
During the recently-shortened 2020 season, Boyd was 6-5 with a 2.97 ERA in 61.1 innings of work, striking out a team-leading 51 batters.
Boyd will be immediately eligible for the 2021 season, and have one year to play at CU.
The right-handed pitcher prepped at Battle Ground High School, where she was a three-time all-league pitcher and authored eight no-hitters, including four perfect games.
Creighton is coached by Brent Vigness, who enters his 27th season at the helm of the Bluejays in 2021. His 790 wins on The Hilltop are the most by any coach in any sport in school history.
