Women's Basketball Makes Quick Return to Battle Marquette

Omaha, Neb. -- Less than 48 hours after defeating Georgetown on Saturday, the Creighton women's basketball team returns to the floor on Monday afternoon to face Marquette in D.J. Sokol Arena.

Series with Marquette: Bluejays Lead Golden Eagles 14-9
Marquette and Creighton have a balanced history with the Bluejays holding a 14-9 edge. Since the two teams became BIG EAST foes Creighton has a 9-7 series advantage. The Bluejays, however, have gotten the better of Marquette in nine of the 10 meetings.

Scouting Marquette (10-2, 7-1 BIG EAST)
The Marquette Golden Eagles are the epitome of team basketball, ranking third in the NCAA with 21.0 assists per game.
One reason the Golden Eagles rack up so many assists is the efficiency of their shooters. Marquette enters the game at Creighton shooting 49.1% on the season, ranking fifth in the NCAA.
In addition to shooting excellence, Marquette also crashes the board with tremendous zeal. The Golden Eagles rebounding margin (+11.3) ranks No. 12 in the NCAA.
Marquette's two losses have come to Milwaukee (64-55 on Dec. 2) and at Seton Hall (77-66 on Jan. 15).

Scouting Creighton (4-6, 3-3 BIG EAST)
Returning the to the court following a 27-day layoff, the Bluejays posted a 65-57 victory over Georgetown on Jan. 30.
Playing without point guard Tatum Rembao (Knee), the Creighton offense got a boost from junior Payton Brotzki with a career-high 18 points.
Freshman Molly Mogensen also stepped forward with a career-high seven assists in the win over the Hoyas.
After not playing for close to a month, the Bluejays will be playing their second game in three days.

Brotzki Comes Out Blazing Versus Hoyas
Earning her first start of the season, junior Payton Brotzki delivered 12 first quarter points to help Creighton hold a 15-14 edge on Georgetown after one quarter on Jan. 30. The Nebraska native finished the 65-57 win over the Hoyas with career-highs in points (18), minutes (33), made field goals (6), assists (3) and steals (2).
Parham Knocks Down First Trey as a Bluejay
Sophomore Mykel Parham connected on her first career three-point attempt as a Bluejay in the fourth quarter of Creighton's 65-57 win over Georgetown. Leading 58-52 with 2:02 on the clock, Parham knocked down the trifecta.
Flanery Collects Win Number 350, Second Undefeated Month
The Bluejays' 65-57 win over Georgetown on Jan. 30 gave head coach Jim Flanery his 350th victory on the Creighton bench. It also marked the second
undefeated month in his career.
The only other time Creighton went undefeated in a calendar month was February of 2017. That month the Bluejays went 7-0 to earn a share of the BIG EAST Conference regular title. Creighton went 16-2 in BIG EAST play in 2016-17, reaching the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

- Rebounding: The Bluejays will have a to crash the boards to prevent Marquette from getting second-chance opportunities.
- Three-Point Shooting: Just as the Golden Eagles' shooting percentage is near the top of the NCAA. Marquette also ranks in the top-50 (48) in three-point percentage. With the advantage of playing in their home arena, Creighton needs to win the three-point battle.
